Silver Palm Capital provides merger and acquisition advisory, growth capital and leverage buyout funding, fractional CFO and accounting services, executive management and board advisory, and other corporate financial services for private companies and investment institutions.
Silver Palm Capital also serves as an independent sponsor that acquires or invests in profitable, growing companies in addition to turnaround, distressed, or bankruptcy investment opportunities in private markets. We partner with business owners and management teams to acquire and invest in profitable, growing lower-middle-market companies as well as strategically invest in early-stage venture capital opportunities working with founders in our area of industry expertise. Our approach combines patient capital with hands-on operational expertise — providing the resources and strategic guidance that help companies reach their full potential and prepare for a successful exit.
Investment Approach
Our investment platform's primary focus is to acquire or invest in profitable, growing companies in partnership with existing owners and management teams. We also invest in special situation distressed and bankruptcy investment opportunities, as well as early-stage venture capital companies. Our experience and partnerships provide the firm's portfolio companies with a deep bench of operating and financial expertise usually unobtainable by companies in this segment. Rather than managing portfolio companies' day-to-day operations, Silver Palm Capital typically takes an active value creation role at the Board of Directors or Executive Management level with a combination of operating and capital resources, which is proven to enhance shareholder value when preparing companies for exit to a broader range of strategic and financial buyers in the future.
Investment Criteria
Silver Palm Capital actively seeks to acquire or invest in profitable, growing businesses which generally exhibit the following characteristics:
- Annual revenue of $2.0 million to $50.0 million and EBITDA of $500,000 to $5.0 million
- Recurring revenue and cash flow streams supported by a diversified customer base
- Lowest cost producer and/or differentiated product or service offering in its respective industry
Silver Palm Capital also actively seeks 'special situation' investment opportunities which may include:
- Acquiring or investing in under-performing or over-leveraged companies who remain profitable on an operating free cash flow basis; turn-around, restructuring and distressed situations
- Investing in venture capital businesses as an active executive or board member working closely with its founder(s) to strategically grow and position the company for its next stage of financing or exit
About the Founder
Jean Paul Desrochers
As an Executive Officer, Mr. Desrochers served as CFO for Gibson's Restaurant Group, a high-volume hospitality company operating restaurants under the Gibson's flagship brand name in Chicago and The Boathouse in Orlando's Disney Springs. Prior to Gibsons, Mr. Desrochers was President and CFO of 50 Eggs Capital, a hospitality company specializing in restaurant concept acquisitions as well as operating notable restaurants Yardbird Southern Table & Bar and Lime Fresh Mexican Grill. Prior to 50 Eggs, Mr. Desrochers was President and CFO of Barton G., a hospitality company specializing in events and culinary services, and owns and operates restaurants in Miami and Los Angeles as well as operated the iconic boutique hotel, The Versace Mansion, in Miami Beach.
As an Investment Officer, Mr. Desrochers served as Portfolio Manager and Research Analyst for Trivest Partners and its affiliated Family Office. Prior to Trivest, Mr. Desrochers was Vice President and Senior Equity Research Analyst for US Trust Corporation in New York City and was previously with Templeton Investment Counsel as a Global Equity Research Analyst.
Mr. Desrochers is a Honor's graduate from the University of Florida where he holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and Minor in Economics. Mr. Desrochers held a Series 7 and 63 FINRA license, completed Level I of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) program, and is a Young Presidents Organization (YPO) member (Miami Chapter).
